Much Needed Break

Our best friend Travis purchased a home in Mesquite a few months back. They closed on it a few weeks ago, and we got our first invite down there. It's just not as easy anymore to up and leave these days. Luckily my mother-in-law and father-in-law were more than willing to watch Crewser so we could have a break. We had a great time with friends. We drove down to Vegas Saturday and walked the strip. Don't worry we got frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity. Hopefully will get another invite soon :) hint hint guys!

It was good practice for us for what's coming our way in a few months. Leaving Crew for a week and half?! Not sure I can do it. Missed my buddy.

Spidaman

I can't believe how fast time flies!! Crewser is turning 2 next month. Can you believe this?! He is so into Spiderman aka "SPIDAMAN" he climbs up the stairs sideways, runs around and jumps. He thinks he is as great as the superhero. As do I. So I know I need to follow the theme that he's into at the time for his party. So maybe Spiderman it is. I am really wanting to do a swoop party, because he is Swoop's biggest fan. I talked to a friend up at the U of U. They can get Swoop up to his party, but they charge $200 an hour! Okay, no thanks.

I think we will stick with Spiderman. Let me know if you have any cute ideas. One month left of my baby, then will be into the terrible 2's. Oh wait, those started months ago :)

Haircut

He loves getting haircuts. We turn on Thomas and he sits so good. Maybe it's because he gets a haircut so often. He has so much hair, it's crazy.

Eric got me an iPad for my birthday so that I will update my blog more. Maybe this will work, and maybe it won't. Time will tell..

It was September 2nd and the start of the University of Utah's football season against the Pittsburgh Panthers. We got Crew all ready for his very first Utes game. Mom and Dad were a little worried that the crowd noise would bother him but to our surprise he loved ever minute of the game and the noise only scared him a couple times.

Of course our Utes won their first game and are rolling through the Mountain West farewell tour. Grandma Bartlett is always looking for good Utah gear and found this cute hat and shirt.

It's about time for an update.

Well it's been about forever since my last update so I figured I better get my butt in gear and do something with our blog. There has been a lot that has happened so we will play some catch up in the next week with updates to get everyone caught back up.

We decided that when Crew turned 6 months old we would have Aunt Syd take some new pictures for us. The pictures turned out so stinkin cute I couldn't believe it.

And as always we must represent our team! GO UTES!!

Hogle Zoo

Aunt Alyson and Emma came to visit and we thought it would be fun to go to the zoo. Aunt Amy came along as well as some clogging friends. We had a lot of fun while Crew slept in his stroller :). One day he will enjoy the zoo, cause I sure do!

3 weeks old already?!

Time sure flies! My little man is three weeks old already. I am finally starting to feel better, and get into the swing of things. Last night was Crew's first night in his own bed, in his own room. He slept from 11 to 4, it was heaven! I can't believe how fast he is growing. He changes every day. I can't wait for my sister Alyson and her family to get out here to meet him.

Crew was born on February 26th at 6:39 p.m. He weighed 8 lbs. and 6 ounces and was 21 inches long. He was a little stubborn boy towards the end and he didn't want to make his appearance. I had to be induced, which was quite the process. It all started on Thursday the 25th at 3:00 p.m. So as you can see my labor was not quick, nor easy to say the least!! But he is here and is such a joy. It is a big transition, but Eric and I just can't get enough of him.

I know, I know it's been a long time! I was looking on here, and saw that people have been commenting on my post from a year ago! So pathetic! This last year has had some ups and downs. Everything with my head is stable for now. I am going up to the Moran eye center every 3 months for check up's, but all is well. As most of you know Eric had the best fathers day ever. I had not been feeling well, so we decided it was time to take the test! I think when it came back positive we didn't know whether to scream, or cry. We just looked at each other with a blank look. After a few seconds (felt like minutes) we both freaked out. We have been to the doctor a few times. I am now 24 weeks along, and we will welcome our precious little boy into the world on February 19, 2010. We had another appt. today and also a follow up ultrasound. She was able to see his face more and said that right now everything looks healthy. The last few days I have been able to feel him move around alot. It is the most amazing/crazy thing ever! We are both really nervous, but so excited as well. What a joy this will be.

Alyson, Kawika, and Emma just left last week. They were here for over a month, and it was not easy saying goodbye! They were here for so long, it just felt permanant. I love that Emma so much, she is a doll. We love when they come to visit and we hope they will be here for Christmas!!

Eric lost his job the end of last year. It was hard to get that news, and we knew it would be hard for him to find something else. We felt it was going to best if we put the house up on the market to see what would happen. Eric ended up finding a great job working for the Canyon's School District, he loves his job. We had a few offers on the house so we still decided that it was probably for the best if we were able to sell it to do so. We did sell it, and are now living in Eric's parents basement. We are going to try to save as much as we can and start looking for a home next spring. We feel we are so blessed to even have a place to go. They take good care of us!!

Alright, so there is a quick update. I will try to do better at this blog posting :)

Disneyland

Brian and Julia planned our family reunion this year. We went to disneyland for a week. We also spent 1 day at the beach which was great! We had a blast together as a family!

Eric and I had a bit of a scare the last month or so. I have been having some really bad headaches, and some pressure build up in my head. It has not been fun. I started by going to my family doctor to see if he could tell me anything. All he said was to just go get a brain MRI done because I have signs of a brain tumor. Well Eric and I didn't feel to comfortable with just getting the MRI done because my doctor was so iffy about it. We talked to some people and figured maybe it was possibly my sinuses. I went to an ear nose and throat doctor. He saw that one of my tubes in my ear was not closing all the way, and said that is usually caused from estrogen. He advised me to get off my birth control and see if that helps and we would check back in a month. Well with in the month I had gone for my annual eye exam for some new contacts. That Dr. told me that I had some swelling behind my eyes, and that he could see some lumps. He didn't act to fast on things, and there I was worried as heck. My sweet sister, Amy, has a friend in her ward that is an optometrist and she talked to him, and he wanted to take a look so he could send me in the right direction. Well, he saw the swelling as well. He made an appointment for me up at the Moran eye Center with a Neuro-Ophthalmologist. We just went up and saw her last week, she was 99% sure it was not a brain tumor. But to be sure she wanted me to get the brain MRI to be 100% sure. She described to me Pseudotumor Cerebri is what I have. The results of the MRI came back clear, and what a relieve that was! Thanks to the many prayers! My next step may be a spinal tap...So now we are praying again :)

Sun Valley

Eric and I had the opportunity to go up to Sun Valley last weekend with my mom and dad. My dad had a work convention up there, and invited us along for the ride. I think they invited us because being empty nester's now I think they get a little sick of each other. :) Anyways, we had a really good time. For all of you who know my mom know she REALLY likes to play games. So any chance we got we were back in our condo playing games. I must say though, it wasn't all that bad. There is not a ton of stuff to do in Sun Valley, it was more just a relaxing get-a-way which was well needed. We did ride the tram to the top of the mountain, which was beautiful. The last night we were there we watched the famous Ice show. Brian Boitano was the star performer, and he was amazing! It was fun to get away, and spend some quality time with my awesome parents! On the drive home mom gave us a tour of her old stompin grounds, Twin Falls! We stopped by my grandma and grandpa Cook's grave, and also by there old home. It was a blast!

Cruise / Honeymoon

Eric and I were married on July 19, 2007. For our honeymoon we really wanted to go on a cruise. Our best friends had gone on cruises and we had heard only good things about them. The only down fall was that the summer time was not the best time to go on a cruise in the Carribean because of hurricane season and all that. Our friends were going on a cruise the next March, and invited us to go along with them. We decided that we could do that for our honeymoon and just do something small after the wedding. March couldn't come fast enough. We were so excited to leave. The ship we were going on was the largest ship that sails the ocean right now. We saw pictures and movies about our ship, but they did NO justice!! The day finally came. We woke up at 4 a.m. and headed to the airport. We flew to Atlanta airport where we then caught a plane to Miami. We cruised on Royal Carribean's Liberty of the Seas for 8 days. Our first stop was Labadee, Haiti which was Royal Carribeans private island. We just hung out at the beach and listened to the ocean. The next stop was Montego Bay, Jaimaca. There we had a 2 hour (scary) bus ride to Ochos Rios to hike up the Dunns River Falls. It was gorgeous! Third destination was The Grand Cayman Islands, which probably was our favorite stop. We went swimming with the stingrays, which was amazing, and went to hell :). It was probably the cleanest island, and not so scary. The last stop was Cozumel Mexico, where we swam with the dolphins. That was an experience of a life time!! It was hard to come home after that. I didn't know that a ship could entertain for that long. We were on it for 8 days, and still didn't get to see it all. It was unbelievable! The only problem is now if we go on a cruise it will never measure up, because it was the largest one! We had a blast and have so many memories of it.
